Upavim is a group of 75 women who live in the marginalized community of La Esperanza in Guatemala City. They are all mothers and homemakers. Some are widows, some have been abandoned by their husbands or confront alcoholism and/or domestic violence in their families. Many of them are the sole providers of economic support for their families.
