Mr. Ellie Pooh's acid-free handmade paper is 100% recycled from fiber and elephant dung (yes, elephant poo!). The binding is vegetable based. The colours are water-soluble salt dyes. A sheet of poo paper is inserted into each card for you to write your own special message. From Kegalle in Sri Lanka the artisans benefit from fair trade working conditions.
Mr. Ellie Pooh supports Wildlife Alliance, which protects endangered and trafficked wildlife and wildlife habitat. Expanding farmland in Sri Lanka is encroaching on elephant habitat, and in turn elephants increasingly trample crops as they move through the farmland. Using elephant dung in paper-making shows farmers how elephants can be economically valuable and worth keeping alive.
